from Harris

Every time the phone rings while you’re under a car, someone else might get the MOT.

Tom, this is what I was telling you about. Harris answers TP Servicing’s phone in TP’s name, takes the details properly, and texts you the lot. You keep working.

    What Harris just did

Calls, bookings and texts as they happen. Numbers are hidden apart from the last three digits.

Quiet so far. Talk to Harris or text it, and every step shows up here.

      Tom,

You’ve built something most garages never manage. 4.9 stars from 71 reviews doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because you do the job right and you treat people properly.

But here’s the bit nobody talks about. The phone rings when you’re mid-job. Hands covered, car on the ramp, customer waiting. You can stop and answer it, or you can let it ring. Either way it costs you. Stop, and the job in front of you slows down. Let it ring, and the person on the other end usually rings the next garage on the list.

      That’s the problem Harris fixes.

      What happens when someone rings

      1. Harris answers in TP’s name.

“Good morning, TP Servicing, how can I help?” Friendly, local and unhurried.

      2. It takes the details properly.

Name, number, reg, the car, what it needs and when they’d like to come in. It answers the questions you’ve given it: what you do, where you are, when you’re open.

      3. You get a text straight after the call.

Who rang, what they need and how to reach them. If Harris booked them in, it’s already in the diary. Anything urgent goes at the top.

      Example calls

Three made-up calls, recorded so you can hear how it sounds. Pick a voice. The one you pick is also the voice you get when you talk to Harris above.

Around every booking there are four little jobs that keep customers coming back. Harris does them on its own.

        1. Straight after the booking

          Confirmation text

The day, the time and where you are, so nobody turns up at the wrong place.

Sample textTP Servicing: you’re booked in. MOT, Ford Focus AB12 CDE, Wed 4 Nov, 9am. Unit 1, Trafalgar House, 72a North Street, Portslade, BN41 1DG. To change it, just reply to this text. Reply STOP to opt out

          Book one to see it

This one goes out by itself the moment Harris books you in.

        2. The day before

          Reminder

A nudge the day before, so the slot doesn’t sit empty because someone forgot.

Sample textTP Servicing reminder: MOT, Ford Focus AB12 CDE is booked for tomorrow, Wed 4 Nov, 9am. Unit 1, Trafalgar House, 72a North Street, Portslade, BN41 1DG. Need to change it? Reply to this text. Reply STOP to opt out

        3. When the job’s done

          Review request

One text with your Google review link. Nothing else, no pestering, and everyone gets the same link.

Sample textThanks for choosing TP Servicing. If you have a moment, a Google review helps us a lot: [your review link] Reply STOP to opt out

        4. Next year

          MOT due reminder

When the MOT comes round again, they hear from you first, not the garage down the road.

Sample textTP Servicing: the MOT on AB12 CDE is due by 4 November 2027. Reply to this text or call 01273 429 885 to book it in. Reply STOP to opt out

Every text ends with “Reply STOP to opt out”, and STOP is honoured straight away. The review text never asks whether they were happy first: everyone gets the same link.

Harris can send the same MOT reminders by email too. Bringing your list in is something we set up together, and only with people who’ve agreed to hear from you.

        • The awkward ones still come to you.Complaints, big quotes and anything unusual get “Tom will call you back” and go to the top of the text.

If you don’t pick up, Harris does.

You keep your number and the phone rings as normal. If nobody gets to it after a few rings, the call goes across to Harris. It’s one setting on your line, and I’ll set it up with you. Takes two minutes.

Have a go and try to catch it out.

Book an MOT, ask where you are, ask it something awkward. Then just reply to my message and tell me what you think.

        Cheers, Tom.
